What is an Organic Garden?

An organic garden is a garden where vegetables and fruit are grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides. This is what certifies the garden as organic.

We are going to do a lot of interesting things there, for example: digging, harvesting, raking, planting and cooking.

There are vegetables which grow in the ground. You can also find a lot of plants which grow in the greenhouses. The produce is sold in a box scheme and some of it is used for cooking in the kitchen.

As for me, I think that working in the garden will be very interesting and useful. I think that cooking will be the most interesting work because I like it very much.

We went to the organic garden last week. It was great!

An organic garden grows vegetables and fruit without any chemicals like pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides.

Instead of them, we use plants to remove weeds and a fence to protect the garden from rabbits. (There is a moth trap for moths as well, in order to study them.) Unless we grew vegetables without chemicals, the garden wouldn’t have its organic status.

We are taught about many things such as how to use tools, what we can’t do and what vegetables are there on each field by miss Emma who is a gardener. So we are going to dig, hoe, rake and cook the vegetables!

Last week, we dug to let onions out and strung them up to dry them.

It was not difficult to dig, because onions had been got out easily.

In my opinion, however, stringing them up wasn’t easy.

The others did that very well, but it was a little difficult for me.

I think the reason might be that onions which I had chosen were too big.

Also I was careful, thinking about what we can’t do, for example, we must not throw tools around and leave them lying on the ground.

Some vegetables will be sold in a box scheme and the others will be used for cooking that we will do next time!

It was fun to find their names out although I can’t remember all of them. I think I will have more fun when I handle them in the garden, like digging or watering, etc.

An organic garden has very good vegetables and fruits, which are very tasty, not harmful, and good for your health! I think that in organic garden vegetables and fruits are grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides! And I think when you have an organic garden in your home, you don’t pay money in the supermarket! It’s cheap for your family, and easier for you! And when you eat vegetables from your garden, it’s very good for your children!

TIMUR

On the first day our lesson in the garden was to learn about what an organic garden is. I learnt that an organic garden has natural elements. An organic garden does not have pesticides, herbicides and insecticides. There are many types of produce in the garden. We must be careful with the tools because someone can injure another person.

My group and I will do some planting, for example onions, potatoes etc. We will take them from the garden and later we will put them in the box. If there were some potatoes we take them to the greenhouse. From the greenhouse we take onions and we take them to the potting shed where we string them up for storage. We will pick out weeds. We will have wellies and gloves.

I will learn how to properly do it and I will learn the new words. I like being in the fresh air and I think that I like working in the garden.

In the organic garden vegetables and fruit are grown without the use of insecticides, pesticides and herbicides. This is what certified this garden as organic. We are going to be digging, harvesting, watering, raking, planting and cooking.

There are many types of produce in the garden. There are root vegetables which grow in the ground and herbs and salads which grow in the greenhouses.

The produce is sold in a “box scheme” and some of it is used for cooking in the kitchen.

I am feeling very good about working in the garden because I will always be in the fresh air. Working in the garden is also very interesting because you learn a lot of new English words about gardens. I enjoy it very much.

An organic garden is a garden where vegetables and fruit are growing without insecticides, pesticides and herbicides. In the organic garden there is very good food and it is very tasty, so the produce is sold in a box scheme and some food in the organic garden is used for cooking in the kitchen.

What I am going to do in organic garden?

I’m going to help in the organic garden. I want to see how our food is growing. I will study plants there.

What happens to the produce?

People clean vegetables and then put them in big boxes. They sell them in the big boxes and it is called a box scheme. Part of the food workers leave for themselves.

How do you feel when you are working in the organic garden?

I think it is great to help in the organic garden. You can completely understand the feelings of the workers.

An organic garden is a garden where vegetables and fruits are grown without using chemicals. The produce is sold in a box for £8 each but some of the fruits and vegetables are used for cooking in the kitchen and the students eat them. We already ate one big tomato after working in the garden.

We looked at all the parts of the garden and the greenhouse. We are also going to plant and put the weeds on the compost. After this I felt good, because I like the garden.
