During the last week the climate has been beautifully chill and still with a crisp frost every morning, making the hedgerows sparkle. Stunning sunrises emerge through cool blankets of mist and the ghostly flight of an occasional Barn Owl can be seen hunting low across the meadows. Here in the east, it feels like winter has come at last - but these are days of contrast. By noon, the sun is at its highest; the temperature becomes pleasantly warm so you can believe that Spring is just around the corner - confusing perhaps, for all those dormant plants desperate to burst into life, and all the more reason for us to increase our efforts in preparation for the imminent growing season.
