Preparation of the soil and rotation of crops.


The firts step before sowing any crop is to clean the soil of weeds and once that is complete, the soil must be rotovated to break up the soil and leave it ready for cultivation or transplant.
The development and implementation of well designed rotation is vital to systems of organic production. They help to control pest, disease, weeds, and to maintain fertility structures and levels of organic material in the soil, ensuring a sufficient availability and minimum loss of nutrients.
These techniques refer to a sucession of crops occupy the same space. As a general rule it is inconvenient to repeat a single species year after year, as this has various problems. On the one hand, due to the form of the roots, they will always take up the same portion of soil, depleting it. Fungal diseases and some insect that prefer this species can grow disproportionally in finding their favorite food once again. On the other hand there are plants that require large quantities of nutrients, wich in being repeated consequtively, over-exhaust the fertility.
